Web publishing / content management
We developed our content management system to fill a gap in the market between over complicated and bloated “enterprise” solutions and the very simple blog style content management systems. We wanted to build something that was really simple for anyone to use but powerful enough to power major businesses.
By combining the most useful features with a slightly different twist our solution provides a powerful engine for managing any electronic publishing task.
Key features
- Custom Entry Fields: Each type of content has its own template. This is a set of input fields of various elements that are filled in when creating new content. This reduces the need for content managers to use HTML and ensures consistency through out the site.
- Search Engine Friendly URLs: URLs are created with search engine optimisation in mind. Natural language names are assigned to each page which is reflected in the URL for that page
- Workflow Management: Editorial work-flow based on user roles (content creator, editor, publisher, moderator etc.) Campaign Managers can request new copy and track it in workflow, helping them to manage deadlines.
- Categories: Each content item can be assigned to multiple categories (which can be hierarchical). This means that you can add copy or even a web part once, it will then appear in multiple places being used any number of times.
- RSS: Import content from relevant RSS feeds. This means that we can power news pages for clubs with feeds from external news sources, like the BBC or even specific sponsor’s websites!
- Versioning: Versioning allows you to make revisions to content in a “sandpit” prior to publication. It also maintains a historical record of previous site content.
- Formatting Toolbar: Text styles can be applied using a word processor style toolbar.
- Scheduling Content: You can create content and schedule it to be published in the future. At the designated date and time the content will automatically appear on the website.
- Content Expiration: You can set an expiration date and time for content which will automatically remove that content from the website.
- Pagination: Lists of content (such as news articles) can be paginated for easier viewing within the CMS interface.
- Media Gallery: View your uploaded resources in a convenient browser with full search functionality. Also upload new resources to one place for use across the site.
- Commenting: Allow users to optionally comment on content items on the website. This allows for the creation of discussions about specific pieces of content with full moderation and administration features.
- Change Tracking: See at a glance what changes are due to take place on the web site in the near future.
- Preview: Preview how the site will look at any time in the future reflecting upcoming changes and/or expiry of old content.
- Statistical Tracking: Tracking a selection of statistics about how users are interacting with the website.
- Subscription Lists: Integrated subscription list management.
- Search: Powerful “instant response” search tools in the administration interface.
- Search Engine: Built in integration with Google Mini for Google quality search across your entire website.
- Multi-User System: A true multi-user system.
- Word Censoring: Ensure content is clean and appropriate for your audience with customisable censored word filters.

Here’s a little peek at how it looks. We really like it, and of course we run this site (as well as clients’ sites) with it!
